A Few More Samplers

 Years ago, I needlepointed this firescreen. The needlepoint kit was put out by The National Trust. They called this "Enchanting Garden." "This design, for a firescreen, is adapted from a firescreen in the drawing room at Packard House, Lapworth, Solihull, Warwickshire." National Trust (Enterprises) Limited.

 

This sampler from North Germany shows the year 1843. I found this pattern in a book titled, Alte Mustertucher. It was written by Angelika Walter. One reason I was attracted to stitch this sampler, was because it has a ship.

A Dutch Sampler

 

Last month, January, I purchased a tomato plant at Tagawa's Garden Center. It is in my conservatory, and I put a grow light on it. I now have a few red tomatoes. This helps to get through the month of February in Colorado.

 

 

 

"A Dutch Beauty is the name for this wonderful sampler, made around 1790 by a 13 year old girl from the Low Countries. Only knowing her initials HVZ, we still admire this embroidery on which she succeeded to bring alive 68 creatures with needle and thread. This book contains the complete cross-stitch pattern." It took me at least a year and a half to stitch this wonderful sampler.

Ann Rayner Sampler 1839

The First Sampler I stitched is this Ann Rayner Sampler 1839.

This is one of my favorite samplers. I had a friend whose walls were covered with samplers that she had stitched. This sampler, at that time, was the last one that she finished, and it inspired me so much, that I knew I had to learn to cross-stitch antiques samplers.
